She won a legion of fans with her starring role on TV drama Bones over 12 seasons.

And now Emily Deschanel is returning to TV for the first time since 2017.

On Tuesday, the actress, 42, was a guest at Build Series in New York where she spoke about her new role on the fourth season of TNT's Animal Kingdom.

In early June, the actress told THR.com that she was drawn to the role because of the chance to play an addict.

'I was really interested in having the conversation about addiction. The character is a recovering heroin addict, and this is a big issue in our country right now,' Deschanel explained.

'She's just come out of prison, she's got nowhere to live, and she's trying to establish herself. This is a character who is sensitive to things, has seen everything in life, has done all kinds of things in her life, like a lot of people who have dealt with addiction have. This is a character who is a survivor.'

'She's trying to find her way in the world and she's doing to do whatever it takes to establish herself to get what she needs, basically,' she added.

For her appearance at Build series, the mother of two opted for a blue and white checkered pant suit comprising a long tunic worn over matching trousers.

The outfit had red piping at the cuffs of the long sleeves and the top of the tunic's breast pocket as well as down the sides of the trousers and around the hems.

Her waist was cinched with a red belt and she wore red heels. 

Deschanel's hair was pulled back from her face and styled in a ponytail and she added a splash of red lip color.
